At Charming Shoppes, we feel it’s our responsibility to give back to the communities we serve. This philosophy is demonstrated through various programs designed to better the lives of women and children, offer help to those in need, inspire community spirit and truly make a difference.
Keeping Kids Warm
Having warmed hearts and lives for many years, the Keeping Kids Warm program finished its twelfth exciting season of sharing in November 2007. The program is part of Charming Shoppes’ ongoing effort to give back to local communities. The Company, in conjunction with its vendors and suppliers, donates coats to elementary-school children in inner-city locations. To date, Keeping Kids Warm has donated 90,000 new coats and book bags filled with school supplies to children in need at schools in Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Wisconsin.

Through direct mail and in-store programs, President and CEO Dorrit J. Bern has developed an ongoing dialogue with her customers. Voices
Voices. One voice can lead to a chorus for change® is a national campaign sponsored by Charming Shoppes that honors women across America for their passion, leadership and achievements as everyday women who raise their voice to create a positive change. Each year a search is conducted to recognize those extraordinary women and provide them with a grant to continue their inspiring community efforts. The finalists are honored by Dorrit Bern, CEO of Charming Shoppes, with a $20,000 charitable grant and other exciting prizes.
Partnering with Others Who Care
Charming Shoppes is committed to demonstrating its ongoing partnerships with non-profit organizations who share the same goal of supporting members of the community.
Through monetary and in-kind giving to charitable organizations such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, United Way and the Police Athletic League, and providing funding for disaster relief efforts such as the Hurricanes in 2005 and the 2004 Tsunami, Charming Shoppes has contributed more than 2 million charitable dollars to those in need.
